Time Warner Cable was an American cable television company that was purchased by Charter Communications in 2016 along with Bright House Networks. Headquartered in New York and founded in 1992 after the merger of American Television and Communications Corporations, Time Warner Cable’s services are now re-branded as Spectrum. For subscribers who just need the internet, Spectrum Internet has a plan with download speeds up to 100 Mbps that claims to be 15 times faster than AT&T U-verse internet service for $44.99 per month for twelve months and drops down to $29.99 per month when bundled with HD TV and phone service. Along with the internet service, there are no data caps, limits or contracts and the internet modem is included. Another plus with the Spectrum Internet Service is that upon sign-up, Spectrum provides a security suite, which is downloadable software that protects up to three computers in your home from viruses, hackers, and spam. However, the rental for the router costs $5 extra and also requires a $5 Wi-Fi monthly fee. Lastly, professional installation is required for all new customers, without the option for self-installation, for a one-time fee of $49.99. In 2013, Time Warner Cable’s business division had the second largest business facing enterprise but has now been rebranded as Spectrum Business. For business subscribers, there is a package deal for internet download speeds of 60 Mbps priced at $39.99 a month for 12 months when bundled with Spectrum’s phone service. For download speeds of 100 Mbps, the plan is priced at $79.99 per month for 24 months and also includes free installation.
