How to Setup & Activate a Router

A step-by-step self install guide on replacing and activating a WiFi router.

Congratulations on purchasing your own WiFi router! Now it’s time to set it up and test it.

While routers used to be complicated to set up, most of the newer models come preconfigured, have an easy to use app or are ready to use out of the box.

Still, it helps to familiarize yourself with the mechanics of a router and how to connect it:

The video above covers the basic steps you need to take to successfully connect any router to a modem.

Once you have it connected, you may already be able to connect to the WiFi network and browse the internet. If you are having difficulties, know that some routers require additional configurations.

We’ve collected setup videos and guides for major brands of routers. Check out the setup videos & guides for your brand router to complete the setup.

Once you are all connected and are able to browse the internet via WiFi, we recommend you change the default admin login information for your router (not your WiFi password, but the password needed to change your router settings).

That's all! You should now be able to connect to your WiFi network with any wireless device and enjoy your monthly rental savings!
