Optimum, now known as Altice USA, (and formerly known as Cablevision) serves areas surrounding New York City, and 16 other states in the United States. Altice USA is the fifth-largest cable provider and ninth-largest television provider, with most customers residing in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and parts of Pennsylvania. Optimum was founded as Cablevision in 1973 and became known as Altice USA in 2015, providing services called Optimum Online for high-speed internet connections, Optimum TV for digital cable, and Optimum Voice for Voice over IP phone service. Altice USA also provides fiber-optic business class data and voice services across the New York area under the Lightpath brand. For subscribers needing Internet service, Optimum Online provides speeds that range from 60 to 400 Mbps that includes a leased modem, free router, email, and access to Optimum WiFi hotspots. To receive internet download speeds of 100 Mbps, the cost is $39.99 per month for one year, and for more basic download speeds of 20 Mbps, the cost for a subscriber would be $19.99 per month for a year. To get a package with 260+ cable TV channels and unlimited calling with a home phone, internet speeds of 200 Mbps runs as a triple play package for $69.99 per month. The Optimum TV provides free HD channels, 130 HDTV channels, and 46 channels of Music Choice music channels. Depending on the level of service, the subscriber can also receive 15 email accounts with up to 5 GB of space and remote email access from any location.
